Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir is an SATB ensemble of approximately 30-40 members. This entirely amateur choir ministers in both A.M. services on Sundays from September through May and for special concerts at Christmas, Easter and other times of the year. We perform the entire expanse of choral repertoire from Bach and Handel to Eric Wittacre, from Chant and Sacred Harp to Contemporary Word Music anthems. Acapella, keyboards, brass or full orchestra encompass the breadth of accompaniment. Membership is open to all ages 14-?? Music note reading is a plus but not necessary to join. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings 7:00-8:30. If interested in membership please contact Dr. Terry Strandt at terry.strandt@moody.edu.
Worship Team
Two Worship Teams (singers and instrumentalists) lead in worship on a rotating basis at both A.M. services on Sundays throughout the year and for special occasions. The members of the teams range in ages from 13-55. We are usually looking for new drummers and bass and rhythm guitarists but are open to incorporating other instruments and new singers as well. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings 6:00-7:00 or Thursday evenings 7:00-8:00 (depending on the team) If you are interested in auditioning, please contact either Andy Tedeschi or Julie Furnari.
Hand Bell Ensemble
The Handbell ensemble rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:00 P.M. and performs on selected Sundays from October through May. Ringer’s experience range from beginners to veterans but basic note-reading skills are necessary to join. We play music in the 1-3 ranges of difficulty (out of 6) and ring up to 4 octaves of Schulmerich handbells. For inquiries about membership, please contact Janet Helin.
Instrumentals and Orchestra
WSBC employs a wide range of instrumental soloists, ensembles and for special occasions, a full orchestra. If you play an orchestral instrument and would like to contribute as an ensemble player or as a soloist, please contact Luke Lusk.
Children’s Choir
The Children’s choir is open to all young singers in grades 1st through 6th. Rhearsals are on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:15 from September through April. Children’s choirs in the past have led in worship on Sunday mornings, performed special music (Lessons and Carols, Missions Conference, etc) and presented full musical plays. The children sing 2-3 part repertoire and learn the rudiments of music and singing in a structured, fun environment. They are directed by Music Interns from the Moody Bible Institute and supervised by WSBC staff . For more information contact Dr. Terry Strandt.
