Small Group Ministry

A small group is any group up to a dozen people (or so) who come together on a regular basis for a common purpose and are led by an identified leader.  A small group seeks to discover Christ together and to encourage each other to display His transforming power by intentionally providing a safe environment for discipleship, fellowship, and service.

Small groups at WSBC:

Our purpose in Small Group Ministries is to create an atmosphere of transformation in which a person may be encouraged to become like Jesus Christ in a community of believers. Small Groups are one way for individual believers to become accountable for the application of Biblical truth into their lives and becoming a part of this local body of believers.

ASSIMILATION:  building a community with a kingdom perspective so that each small group member actively pursues a transforming relationship with Jesus Christ, his family of believers, and develops his/her giftings within God’s calling to service within the body of Christ .

DISCIPLESHIP: growing in mutual accountability, in mutual submission and in the application of scriptural truth, so that seekers and believers become more like Jesus in attitude and behavior.  A disciple is one who follows the precepts and teachings of Jesus Christ.  A disciple-maker is one who teaches and instructs on the teachings of Jesus.

(Matt 28:19) Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

FELLOWSHIP: creating an environment characterized by authenticity and transparency so that seekers and believers enter into relationships where they are known, loved, accepted, and challenged.

CARING: encouraging group members to grow in love for others so that  we build and maintain lasting relationships and reach into our neighborhoods with the "Good News" of the Gospel.

There are many kinds of small groups – Couples groups, Family Groups, Sports ministry, Mom’s Group, Joshua Group, Men’s Bible Study, Women’s Bible Study, and Home Groups.  Training is available for current and potential Leaders, Co-leaders, and Hosts.
